mirror mirror on the wall

i've always wanted a mirror like this.it super perfect for time when you want to put on make up, plucking your eyebrows and staring at your face.haha

there was a shoot for sense and style magazine at the store yesterday and the guy who was doing make up brought this and a shitload of WOWOWOW make-up (i love make up even if i dont put it on all the time) he even had all the Fafi collection Mac make up. *DROOL* he had like 3 humongous bags of make up that opened up like 4 times for more compartments.
learning how to do make up (like take formal classes) is on my to-do list this year. well one of the bazillion things on my to-do list, that is.

cupcakes turned out to be a dud!HAHA! turns out the recipe that i got from the net is the matabang cupcake recipe because it uses shortening instead of butter so it has less taste and less density. Its not bad bad, just needs more sweetness and density to it. not bad for a first timer thought! and my buttercream frosting turned out great, i added food coloring to make it pink so that it'll look nicer. yes even stuff i make on the everyday has to have a little bit of character in it.hehe

AND i love my new bowls! i got the set of four for 40% off at rustans and these Zaki designs bowls are made from recycled materials DAW. but they're pretty nonetheless.

Sunday not so bloody sunday

such nice little surprises this sunday! makes me feel so happy even if i'm still semi-sick.

i had a bright idea of baking cupcakes today so will be doing that in awhile. Will post pictures later!

writing skills

i was scanning thru my posts and just realized that my writing skills are crap. after 5 years of no "formal" education (formal in the sense that i attend normal classes like english 101 or whatnot) all the things i've learned from my one year stint in college has gone out the window.haha OH WELL.
i wonder how i got those B's and A's in those essay assignments in ateneo before, i can't even form a good sentence nowadays. these are the moments when i regret leaving the academic world. sometimes i dream of going back and earning that degree in whatever (that's the parental brainwash of "you have to have a degree" kicking in) but then i remember those excruciating MATH 11 classes and then i don't regret it anymore.HAHA!

Favorite designer

Whenever people ask me about who my favorite designer is and i say Luella Bartley im mostly met with blank stares and a who is that question? Luella hasnt reached houeshold name status yet but she's been steadily building her cred as a designer for a couple of seasons now.

i love her kooky style, the fact that she's a mother of three, is not super duper thin (yey to healthy looking people), doesnt seem to wear heels a lot (based on her pictures), is from a small town in england, loves nature and she surfs.haha that was the clincher for me. so its just not her designs that i admire but the whole luella bartley package.

I was in HongKong for holy week this year when i saw that she had a shop in one of the malls there. of course i had to scream "luella!" and run towards the shop.I got to buy two shirts from her spring summer 08 collection which was inspired by bats and sort of a floral rock and roll look.. i wanted one of the Dip dyed floral dresses but then my gash i think they were going for 30k for a dress and thats like not even in the same stratosphere of my budget. so i got the yellow and black bat shirt, and the white batman shirt pictured above.

Silver linings!

my friend neil gave me these shoes for my birthday, it's actually part of his new products under his NJ sneaks brand. don't you just love how flashy shiny it is? i think girls are naturally attracted to shiny colorful things. hehe the shoes also comes in patent red (which im contemplating on buying!) black and white. heck i want them all!haha too bad im perpetually broke so i always just wait for gifts to come my way (everybody now!kkuuurrippoooottt)

since it's the rainy season now, i've been busting out my sneakers because i hate getting my feet wet and also for being practical because the rain might damage them. ALTHOUGH I've been using my velvet PS sneakers a lot nowadays that defeats that "its practical" purpose. hahaha

Tanyth Berkeley

Last year during my trip to the states one of the cities i visited was new york, and one of the things one my list of things do in new york was to visit a museum or a gallery. i was supposed to go to the Marianne Boesky (not sure if i spelled that one right) gallery which features up and coming artists and far out artworks. ANYWAY, that didn't happen so i decided to just go to the MOMA instead. and one of the artists that they had on exhibit was Tanyth Berkeley's photographs.

Born in brooklyn, NY Tanyth is known for her portraits of very unique individuals that she knows. when i saw the life sized photographs of her subjects i couldn't take my eyes off of them. the color saturation, the subjects, the way she portrayed them in her photographs were so beautiful and so sad and so ethereal at the same time. i couldn't spend much more time in the MOMA after that because my head hurt after all the beautiful things that i saw.
you can check out her work at the site of the bellwether gallery --> http://bellwethergallery.com/artistsindex_01.cfm?fid=83&gal=1

sex and the city

i got bored and the mic that kept showing at one point irritated the hell out of me. i mean c'mon? nobody noticed that the boom mike was showing a couple of times during the movie (it was in this scene where carrie was talking to big about marriage or something)

the clothes were great but after two hours of poor story line and forced dialogue i was itching for the movie to end. i still encourage everyone to watch it though, its worth seeing even just for the clothes and for SATC closure.

i just hope they wont make a sequel.

hippie chick (hippie chic?)

Images like these make me want to cry.
perfect lighting, that full on stare to the camera and just the overall look, plus ive always loved that kind of blonde. when the sun hits it its seems liketheres a halo around your head. too bad im allergic to dye and im morena so that would look kinda weird on me.haha
i went thru a hippie/rocker chick phase a couple of years back, i had really long hair wore tie-dyed shirts and ripped jeans, tons of silver bangles (which i still wear up to now) and listened to a ton of 60's and 70's music (which i still also LOVE up to now) although i never looked as good as the girl in this picture.
i totally forgot her name, who she is and why she was featured in style.com i just loved the whole thing so i just grabbed it and saved it in my computer. maybe ill make some clothes with this look in mind, isnt hippie chic back in style again?

I want to ride my bicycle

Ever since i got to buy that japanese folding bike from evangelista i've always dreamed of using it to schlep myself around town. but as we all know that is close to IMPOSSIBLE here in manila.
First it's hot, second its dangerous. i dont even drive here because im so scared of other cars what more ride a bicycle around the city. and third, well.. its REALLY hot. haha i think thats one of the main factors on why i dont use it much. i wish i lived in a colder climate country that actually encourages you to ride a bicycle instead of using cars.and they have bicycle rentals everywhere, like the bike shown in the picture. i know a lot of places in europe do that and i think some places in the US are starting to do that. so for now the most action my bicycle will ever see will be riding it around the boyf's village at night.

hello

im putting up this blog for whenever i feel like talking about useless nonsensical stuff.

and...

it's also yet againANOTHER distraction from work.
